The Showgirl / Rural Ambassador subcommittee ran a successful campaign for the 2026 Callide Valley Show with 15 entrants in the Tiny Tots and competitors in the Intermediate Show Person category and entrants in the Junior and Senior High Showgirl. We had three nominations in the Showgirl competition eligible for the regional finals that go to the Qld Country Life Showgirl competition at the Ekka. Our winner Ava Haine will represent the Callide Valley Show at the upcoming regional finals.
We had no new entrants for the Rural Ambassador however Megan Kent will represent the Callide Valley Show again in the competition at the CQ Sub Chamber regional finals.
The Callide Valley Show will be hosting the regional CQ Sub Chamber finals for Showgirl and Rural Ambassador on the 27th June 2026 in time for the Ekka in August.

What are the Showgirl Awards?
The Queensland Country Life Showgirl Awards hosted by Queensland Ag Shows (Showgirl Awards) is a leadership program for all young women engaged in their communities and the agricultural show movement in Queensland. The aim of the Showgirl Awards is to ‘Recognise, Develop and Celebrate Young Female Leaders in our Communities’. The Showgirl Awards allows agricultural shows to engage young women in their communities to develop their leadership skills and confidence to continue their involvement in, and representation of, their agricultural show.
The Queensland Country Life Showgirl Awards has continued to develop since its inception in 1983. Personality, confidence and leadership qualities; ambitions and goals; general knowledge; contextual agricultural knowledge; agricultural show knowledge, insight and commitment; community participation; presentation and public speaking skills are key when selecting a Showgirl.
